We started purlaway™ as a way for knitters to enjoy their craft and learn new skills in an environment that is nurturing and luxurious. Purlaway is dedicated to providing high quality instructors, so that all participants gain new knitting knowledge through our events. When we met a couple of years ago, we had no idea we would start a business together that would revolve around knitting, but our combined love for the craft has led us to want to share our knowledge and excitement about knitting with others. We both have hectic lives and could see a need for a getaway that just revolves around this passion.

Sarah opened her own yarn shop, Knot Another Hat, in 2005 and has been growing her shop every year since. She first started knitting while pregnant with her first daughter in 2004, and has been gobbling up new skills, projects, and yarns ever since. She first met Nichole through Knot Another Hat, and quickly recognized a kindred spirit in her new friend. Sarah is so excited to have created this amazing weekend for knitters to enjoy with one of her favorite people.

Nichole has been knitting for over 30 years and started her own knitwear design business in 2008 called bluegirl knits after receiving encouragement and support from her friend Sarah. She moved to the Columbia River Gorge a couple of years ago from Seattle and has been enjoying a quieter life with her husband and dog. When she is not knitting, she is working for Sarah at Knot Another Hat, teaching knitting classes and moonlighting as an accounting consultant. Nichole has spent the last few years traveling and always seems to find beautiful yarn & handknits (sweater above is from Galway Ireland) wherever she goes as well as inspiration for new patterns.
